Brooke and Chase Lawrence are married collaborative artists based in the American South-East. They met at Kennesaw State University, where they earned their degrees in fine art, with disciplinary focuses on painting and sculpture. The Lawrences are sculptors and oil painters best known for their signature use of biophilic mediums, such as live and preserved botanicals. The artwork they produce simulates nature’s unique textures, qualities, and relationship to man-made objects and materials. They live and work together in a historic Craftsmen homestead in rural South Carolina. As avid collectors of antiquities, their home and studio have been called “a museum filled with artwork and artifacts from around the world.” Their collection spans the 15th - 20th centuries, housing original artwork by storied Renaissance artists such as Albrecht Dürer and his master, Michael Wolgemut. Their ever-growing collection of historical artworks, oddities, and artifacts lend a strong aesthetic influence to their work, as they simultaneously create every piece together. They explore new expressions of biophilic design, cryptography, and symbolism through creating highly ornamental, and theatrically-imposing works of art.
